Among the exterminators Grimes was the best, the top. But the sight of him staring down the rabbit hole left most onlookers in a bit of doubt. Grimes was tall yet hunched in his back such as to give the impression that he was shorter. His clothing all seemed on the short side. Not just high-waters but his shirts also appeared as if shrunk up in the dryer. On his head was a ball cap of such age that the logo on the front could not be distinguished at all. The skin on his face was dull white just like so-called rabbit he had been called in to find and, well, exterminate.

Now, looking down this rabbit hole Grimes scratched at the hair beneath his ball cap. Quite a bit down you see, the earthen sides changed. Just beyond his penlights ray, if his mind was not scattered, the walls shone of metal. Or some kind of metallic thing with wires, and the most foreign looking buttons. Is this some sort of trap? Grimes thought to himself. But to what purpose? I better have a closer look, but not too close yet mind you. Something was certainly queer about the whole situation and Grimes knew that he had better move with caution, especially after all the bizarre tales that had brought him to this place.

II

As Lacie watched from behind the hedgerow she could see Grimes was looking perplexed. At only 19 years old, and with looks that most would refer to as homely she thought it best to stay in the background. So many strange things had occurred here in this small country town, and some horrific at that. She along with everyone else was understandably nervous. Lacie pulled at her long pigtails wondering if Grimes knew that the real danger was not the rabbit that went down the hole, but the awful things that have been seen coming out of the hole at night. Ungodly creatures which must be to blame for all the mayhem taking place here. And the sounds, those awful noises coming from that pit. Well if Grimes was not careful he would soon find out about all that and more, she thought to herself.

Meanwhile, 20 miles from the South Pole in an underground bunker. Two men dressed in the finest of Nazi attire are talking.
“Sir, there appears to be a problem over in England.”
“And what sort of problem might that be General, that has caused you to disturbed my sleep?”
“Sir, my Swiss contact is reporting that the White Rabbit is causing quite the storm in a small town there.”
“This certainly is something of a problem now isn’t it?”
“Sir, yes Sir it is, some who are in the know are saying that ‘the storm has begun’.”
“Well I think you should get going then, you have a long journey and a lot of work ahead of you General. And General, I expect to hear a good report from you within the next forty-eight hours.”
“Yes Sir, I understand”

III

The next thing Grimes knew he was knocked over on his back. Lacie, still hiding, let out a cry. If not for the event before them Grimes surely would have heard it. Some sort of energy beam, Grimes thought to himself? But that thought did not last long, for as soon as he as got himself to the sitting position bright lights began shooting upward out of the rabbit hole. So bright that they had a buzzing sound around them. They shot straight up at first and then kind of gathered in the sky. Red and green and blue, they began to swirl and swirl at an intense speed until at once they combined and shot right out of sight into space.
Lacie now composed herself took the opportunity to quickly head back home. Laying on her soft bed she thought hard about what she had just seen. The only thing she could compare it to was stories that she had been told by an uncle of something called the “Norway Spiral”. Exhausted from the experience Lacie slowly drifted off to sleep.

At first the General was puzzled, “what was that sound?” he thought. So deep in the ocean things tend to worry one more than they would on the surface. Was that a “clink”, he thought to himself. He gave the all quite command. Listening, straining to hear any abnormality. There it was, not a “clink” but more of a “buzzing”. And now getting steadily louder. The whole submarine began to shake, and strange colors filled the air inside. No time for even a last breath as the vibration intensified into a grand explosion as every piece of the debris shot straight up out of the ocean and continued skyward until completely out of sight. Of course there was no one there to see all this, or was there?

IV

As the sleep began to fall from Lacie’s eyes and the blurry room became more focused she became frozen in her bed. Looking down on her was what seemed to be a hundred pair of eyes. Just eyes floating in the air above her. They moved as if they were attached to faces and bodies, but none of that was there. Or at least if it was it was not visible. Her head became light and Lacie felt as if she would vomit at any moment. Then a strange sound, that buzzing sound and it was growing. She closed her eyes and tried to think about before all this craziness began. She was just fifteen when she first saw the White Rabbit. And at that time nothing seemed out of the ordinary. “But that soon changed didn’t it”, she thought to herself. “No, don’t think like that”, she pleaded with herself, “Think of times before that”. Then the room began to spin…

V

Acts 2:19
And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

One lone ray sunlight of could be seen lighting upon Lacie’s face. Just a small crack in the curtain was enough to let it through. And now it’s warmth brought comfort to Lacie, though she still dare not open her eyes just yet. Pushing the worst thoughts of last night from her mind she focused back on Grimes. Such a peculiar fellow he was. But something about him seemed to catch this young girls fancy. As if there was any way Grimes could be her knight in shining armor, her hero. “Maybe just a bit more sleep.”, she thought to herself drifting slowly off again.

Back at the bunker under the ice:

“Sir, reports are that it was a complete loss, no survivors”
“Very Well then Captain, I shall give the Leader your report. But you are aware he will not be very happy about this”
“Yes, I know. May God have mercy on us all”
“God?, Did you say God? You know that you can be executed for speaking such words.”
“Yes, I mean no sir, I did not say, I did not mean to say or..”
“Relax, just make sure it does not happen again. Now go and prepare your men for their inevitable task”.

“Carrots are divine, get a dozen for a dime, it’s magic”
Bugs Bunny

“Not much of a rabbit are you?”
“Well actually I prefer to be referred to as a Hare” The White Rabbit said. “And what may I ask are you supposed to be? Colonel Sanders from KFC?”
“You just mind yourself there Rabbit, the Leader himself placed me here to make sure there are no problems, and I surely would not mind telling him that you are a problem running around acting the fool like Bugs Bunny.”
“Just get back up there and keep an eye on the girl, and no more funny stuff”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah” the White Rabbit said as he headed up the hole.
And as the Rabbit disappeared above a kaleidoscope of sharp colors feel down hitting the floor of the control room. Lights flashed and the others there scrambled to avoid being injured.
“The leader will hear about this” could be heard softly in the background

Grimes shook his head a few more times before trying to stand. “What on earth was that?” He thought to himself.  “Did that really happen?  Did I really just see that?” After another minute or so he
was able to compose himself and get to a standing position. He circled the hole in the ground over and over before walking slowly to his truck. Looking at the small old pickup truck and the fading paint with the dents and dings from years of service all he could do was think of that famous line from the movie “Jaws”, “we’re gonna need a bigger boat”.  And quietly to himself said, “I’m gonna need a bigger truck”, knowing that a bigger truck would be of no help in a situation of this sort. Perhaps a faster truck to get far, far away.
He slid into the drivers seat started the engine with the usual grinding sound and put the old truck in drive for the ride back to his shop/home. A bit of rest and thought on the matter before coming back tomorrow would surely do the trick. No little White Rabbit was going to get the best of Grimes the best exterminator in the whole area. “Yes” he mumbled in the cab, “maybe a bit of tea also to calm these nerves, and I’ll be back for him in the morning”

VII

Lacie carefully set the bowl of soup on the table. Her grandfather smiled. Jack used to be so strong and active, but that was along time ago now. These days he mostly sits by the window watching the outside world go by. Lacie loves Jack and always loves to hear his stories about his secret life working for the resistance. She really is not sure if they are true stories or maybe exaggerated for a special granddaughter, non the less she could listen for days to his tales. “Papa, something strange is going on here lately” Lacie spoke. “Something more than strange actually, something evil”

“Now, Now Lacie, don’t let your imagination get the best of you” Jack replied.

“No really Papa, it has to do with the rabbit hole and that exterminator Grimes who came to take care of the problem.”

“What is all this talk about a rabbit hole and rabbit exterminators”
Jack sort of grunted between sips of his soup. “You don’t call the exterminator for a rabbit, I’ve never heard such non..” Suddenly Jack’s face froze. He put his spoon down and turned toward Lacie. “Lacie listen carefully to Papa, this would not possibly have to do with The White Rabbit would it?”

“You have heard of The White Rabbit Papa?” Lacie said.

At that instant Jack’s body twitched and his knees jerked knocking the soup bowl to the floor and spilling it everywhere. “Darn, what a klutz” Jack shouted.

“No papa that was my fault putting it so close to the edge of the table and then getting you all excited about silly myths of rabbits.” Lacie said, as she quickly began the clean up process.

Jack settled down a bit and thought back to his final days working for the resistance. Those bitter cold days under all that ice. He reached down into his pocket and rubbed the pocket watch within, thinking, “The time has come I guess, indeed I knew it would”.

Three hours sleep was not too bad considering what Grimes had experienced the day before. But now things would be different. Grimes was loading up everything in his arsenal. Everything he could get in that old truck was being loaded. That rabbit didn’t stand a chance against the best exterminator around and that exterminator was Grimes.
Lacie made her way closer to the rabbit hole. She wanted to get a quick look this morning before anyone else happened by. “Everything looks normal” she thought to herself. There was no sign of anyone around as she made the corner past the hedgerow. Just then she heard it. A low rumbling, or was it a buzzing sound growing louder. Lacie ducked back behind the bushes just as the old truck came to a halt by the rabbit hole. “Oh, thank God, it is just Grimes,” Lacie said to herself.
And then she sat down to watch Grimes work from her hiding spot.
With Lacie gone Jack made his way out to the old barn. Half crumbling not to many ventured in it these days. As he made his way up the last rung of the ladder to the loft Jack could see the old chest was still right where he had left it. Ducking his head past a beam he moved closer and as he did he began to get lightheaded. Then the sound began, a buzzing he saw what looked like an animal run by to his left at lightning speed. A White streak in his vision. Jack went to spin toward the apparition and as he did the buzzing increased and seemed to be focused on his chest. He reached toward his heart, screamed as he fell out of the loft to the hard ground below. And that was all.

Fingerprint file, you get me down
You keep me running
Know my way around. Yes, you do, child
Fingerprint file, you bring me down
Keep me running
You keep me on the ground
Know my moves
Way ahead of time
Listening to me
On your satellite
Feeling followed
Feeling tagged
Crossing water
Trying to wipe my tracks
And there’s some little jerk in the FBI
A keepin’ papers on me six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down, it gets me down
You better watch out
On your telephone
Wrong number
They know you ain’t home
And there’s some little jerk in the FBI
A keepin’ papers on me six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down, it gets me down
Who’s the man on the corner; that corner over there
I don’t know. Well, you better lay low. Watch out
Keep on the look out
Electric eyes
Rats on the sell out
Who gonna testify
You know my habits
Way a head of time
Listening to me
On your satellite
And there’s some little jerk in the FBI
A keepin’ papers on me six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down, it gets me down
It gets me down
Hello, baby, mm-hmm
Ah, yeah, you know we ain’t, we ain’t talkin’ alone
Who’s listening? But I don’t really know
But you better tell the SIS to keep out of sight
‘Cause I know they takin’ pictures on the ultraviolet light
Yes, uh huh, yeah, but these days it’s all secrecy; no privacy
Shoot first, that’ s right… you know
Bye bye. Who’s listening?
Right now somebody is listening to you
Keeping their eyes peeled on you
Mmm, mmm, what a price, what a price to pay
All right. Good night, sleep tight

At the bunker the leader sits pondering his next move. On the wall above his desk is the sign that says “The Snow Den” Everyone thought it so fitting at the time.
“Sir we have been given an important weather alert”.
“Weather alert?, what do you mean? You know as well as I that we control..oh ok let me see.”
“What is this, we do not get tornadoes here and besides we are so deep in the bunker, get me…Jack?
Suddenly from above the buzzing and instantly a tornado crashed through the bunker. The sound was deafening and the winds horrific. From the outside if they could have seen it, a whirlwind kaleidoscope of massive proportions dropped straight down upon them. Drilling down to their bunker in seconds, everything and everyone was completely destroyed in a moment. And just as quickly as it came the “thing” shot straight back up into the sky until it disappeared from sight.

Grimes began unloading all the equipment that he had brought with him from the shop and piling it around him near the rabbit hole. Lacie continued to watch from her position behind the hedgerow. When everything was unloaded Grimes reached down and grabbed a metal briefcase. Opening it he reached in and grabbed what looked to be a roll of wires. At that point he began lowering, what now was apparent to Lacie, as a camera down the hole.
“Oh I wish I was closer so that I could better see what is going on” Lacie thought.
As the camera descended Grimes fiddled with the small screen in the briefcase attempting to focus the images it was receiving from the camera. “That’s strange?'” Grimes thought. He could see what to him resembled teeth sticking out from the wall of the hole, big metallic teeth. ” Now how could a rabbit dig a hole and line it with these big silver metal teeth? This certainly is getting more peculiar by the minute” He said to himself. Grimes continued to drop the camera down further and further until…

The storm is surging and it is a firestorm.

In the courtyard of the headquarters in Switzerland a scene plays out. A group of people emerge from the darkness. They move slowly but with purpose. Each one in a dark hooded robe. Circling one way then back the other way. In the center a pentagram had been drawn on the cement. Inside that was some sort of bundle. There is chanting and dancing in a jerking fashion and culminating with a scream. Red flows and splashes across the cement.
Meanwhile the same scene is being played out at locations around the globe, Berkely CA, Warsaw Poland, Oak Ridge TN, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Max Planck Institut für Kernphysik, Heidelberg, Germany, and the list goes on. Even at an unlikely pizza restaurant in the Washington DC area. All over the world it seems that something is cooking.

A top hat and bow tie seem strange for anyone to be wearing these days let alone a five foot tall White Rabbit, but there he was. Grimes stared at him and he back at Grimes. This seemed to go on for an eternity, yet really was just a minute.
Then the White Rabbit spoke. “And who might you be sir?” addressing Grimes.
“Well I am Grimes, I am the exterminator in this area, and the finest exterminator at that” came the reply.
The White Rabbit moved a bit to his left sizing up Grimes and said, “And you generally exterminate rabbits, do you?”
“Not usually, in fact this is the first time that I have ever had a rabbit call”.
“I see, and how is it going so far?”
“Not very well thank you, Hey wait just a second what is all this, a five foot tall talking rabbit I must have banged my head or something. You can’t be real.”
“You are the one talking to me, so it seems to be your problem and not mine”.
From her hiding spot Lacie could see the interaction taking place. It appeared that Grimes was talking with the White Rabbit. “Oh this can not be a good thing” she thought. Looking up she could see the now familiar lines crisscrossing the sky above. Soon the whole sky would be one big CLOUD.

Flashback

The snow seemed to flutter down softly like a billion white butterflies. Lacie stuck her tongue out to catch one as she giggled. Christmas time is always special but even more so when it snows. The cold air and the beauty of white covering everything just makes it magical. Spinning with her arms out and then falling to make snow angels as young girls do.

“I think I will just stay thirteen forever”, she thought. “That growing up stuff is for grownups, and they are boring”.

Running by her in the field a gawky looking older boy throws a snowball and says, “Don’t eat the yellow snow”.

“See,” she thought to herself, “that is what starts to happen as you grow up, you get dumb”. But she watched as he ran around the corner out of site. “Arggh, Boys!”

Funny how she remembered that day in the snow and that weird boy, She had not thought about that day since it happened and here she was some years later and it pops into her head. And that boy, that boy was Grimes. Lacie wished it was snowing now so she could throw a big icy snowball at him….Or maybe she would just put her arms around him and hold on tight.

Breadcrumbs laid in a neat trail of the path taken. Q-uestions
that don’t really need answering.

Just then Lacie noticed Grimes looking straight at her. The White Rabbit was gone. Or at least she couldn’t see him. Slowly Lacie stood as Grimes made his way toward her.

“What are you doing over there, hiding and watching me?” Grimes said.

“Well, I was watching to see what that White Rabbit would do to you” Lacie replied’

“That rabbit won’t be doing anything to me, as a matter of fact I am going to be doing all the doing, and that to him.”

“Oh yeah right, I’ve heard that before somewhere, “it’s just a harmless little bunny rabbit”, right before your head gets bit off.

And now for something completely different:

“Yeah you said that already.” said the man dressed what had to be a very expensive suit. “But I know better, we have been watching you sir for a very long time,”

“What do you mean, you have been watching me for a very long time?” “This makes no sense at all. please let me go, I don’t know anything about whatever it is you are trying to find out.”

“Tsk, Tsk, still trying to deny it? Things would be much easier if you would just give me the information. Now I am forced to put you back in the container for more reeducation”

“No, please, I don’t know anything, what is going on here?”

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Lacie looked so wonderful in her wedding gown. And Grimes, who would have thought he would clean up so nicely. The perfect couple some would say. Why not, it was planned long ago yet they knew it not. Or did they?

It was hard to believe that a hole so small could swallow half the town. Slow but steady things made there way toward it. Everything, not just small loose things. Things like cars, trucks, houses. It was as if everything around it was in water flowing toward a drain, just very slowly. Of course it defied all the rules but it was happening and could not be denied. The MSM tried to pass it of as some conspiracy theory stuff. To be expected they ran it like a story of a Bigfoot encounter. And the masses bought it, just like they always do.
Lacie shook her head.

The cold and snow was in place across strategic regions. Snow making was fun of course but weather warfare was more so. Over fifty years of practice and experimentation went into these abilities. And perfection was required in all aspects to make the plan possible and successful. There were no windows to the outside in this ring. But satellite photos in real time flashed on the screen to the smiles of all who had just crossed the Delaware for this occasion.
Across the pond:
Grimes looked out the window at the snow cover. A bit more coffee before making a decision about the next step would be in order, he thought to himself. Maybe in an hour or so he would head back out to the hole. He could see the snow no piling, like smooth white stepping stones leading the way.
On the table a wooden bowl sat with one shiny perfect looking apple.
The crisp silence was broken by a bright white flash along with a sharp sort of whizzing sound. And below a cracking of the ice. Long hidden, in the deep southern ice hills, the mammoths moving at a few slow pace begin the long journey to fulfill their destiny. Even further below in the coldest waters on the earth several megalodon sharks also are stirring. Military agencies worldwide have long had the ability to weaponize sharks, just none this big were ever available.

Lacie woke just in time to see Grimes heading out of the driveway in that old truck. As soon as he was safely out of site she turned her attention to the old trunk. Opening it slowly she pulled out the stack of papers that were neatly stuck along the left edge. Across the top of the first page were the letters CERN. This was new to Lacie. She could not recall ever hearing her grandfather speak of this. “What does this have to do with the resistance”, she spoke out loud to herself. Turning the page her eyes widened at what she saw there.

“This was some really strange stuff”, she thought.
“How does this tie into the White Rabbit?”
“And what is it doing in Frank’s trunk?”
Just then Lacie heard a clicking. Turning toward the sound she froze suddenly in place as she saw the old digital alarm clock. The numbers were moving faster and faster. As if time was speeding up at this very moment. Faster and faster the red numbers spinning and clicking increased until it was just a whizzing.
“What the heck is going on here?” Lacie shouted.
And then The White Rabbit was in front of her. Out of no where it seemed. Lacie wondered if she could handle this again.

“Following crumbs, young lady? the Rabbit asked.
“Well, I …”
“I suggest you regroup and consider a different path. a road perhaps? One paved with smooth white stones”.
“But I don’t understand, what is all this about?” Lacie replied. “This is all just madness. Madness I say!”
“Soon enough” the White Rabbit said, “soon enough and you will”.

“There are some things in this world you just can’t explain.”
Charlie Daniels
“The Legend Of Wooley Swamp”
Way down deep Inside each person. Inside each person’s mind there are places. Places that are as deep as the deepest rabbit hole, places even they don’t like to go. They may be dark places, or cold places. They may be warm and light places. In either case we have learned to stay away from these places and the thoughts and memories that go along with them. They have become secrets even to ourselves. And over time, if there really is such a thing, they begin to knock louder and louder, like the beating of the tell tale heart. Until one day we have to do something about it to prevent us from going mad, or perhaps because of it.
“If rabbits really did wear top hats and talk all this would have an explanation”, Lacie thought.
Just then, in the dark sky above, she saw a shooting star streaking toward the earth like lightening. Bumps shot up on Lacie’s arms as the hair on the back of her neck stood up, drawn as if by a magnet, one hell of a magnet.
Then she thought of Grimes out there.
“I hope Grimes is alright, I should have asked him not to go out there tonight. Oh Grimes please be careful”

“Man don’t do that, I told you I don’t want to see them, you know that! It is really sick all this.”
“Ha, relax man see all closed up, I mean you get so freaked out over a few frozen little girls, you don’t mind the paycheck though, huh? never seen you freak like that over your paycheck, no. Now look there is the truck lets get these loaded and head out for a little bit of New Years partying our selves. Maybe have a Bloody Mary or two?”
“Damn, you are as sick as those freaks at the grove.”
They loaded the box and several other items into the waiting truck which had the logo on the side

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isaiah 14:12-14
Every one was there looking down on her as Lacie awoke. It had been quire some dreams that she must have been having thrashing around like that. And the screaming, all that screaming. No one in town could ever remember a young person having such a strong reaction to their vaccinations. Three days the poor girl lay in that hospital bed as doctors and nurses cared for her and brought her back to relative health. As she came to Lacie felt at the back of her neck. It seemed to her there was something there, a pimple or something just under the skin maybe?
No one but the team knew that when she first reacted, doctors had taken her in and secretly removed some of her stem cells along with implanting the device at the base of her skull. All this would be very important and useful come cloning time and certainly required for her later project related to The White Rabbit, and Grimes. But Frank was always two steps ahead.
Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.

How it was possible that so soon after such awful things had happened right here, that the Rabbit hole could become a sort of tourist attraction was beyond understanding. But then again everything about the Rabbit hole was beyond understanding. There were vendors selling alien grey rabbit dolls, and food vendors selling rabbit on a stick. The once small town became a carnival over night. Grimes watched the Rabbit Hole from a distance. It was easy to see now with the lights over it and the short wrought fence the town had made around it to keep the onlookers a few feet back. Grimes did not like this at all, not at all, but for now he was helpless to stop any of it. And as he stood there looking he could hear the sounds, coming softly still but increasing. That buzzing or whirring was eventually going to be big trouble. Grimes knew it. Lacie knew it. The White Rabbit knew it for sure!
“But what’s this long face about, Mr. Starbuck; wilt thou not chase the white whale? art not game for Moby Dick?”
“I am game for his crooked jaw, and for the jaws of Death too, Captain Ahab, if it fairly comes in the way of the business we follow; but I came here to hunt whales, not my commander’s vengeance. How many barrels will thy vengeance yield thee even if thou gettest it, Captain Ahab? it will not fetch thee much in our Nantucket market.”

The Jura Mountains were the birthplace of innovations that made the Swiss watch industry something admired throughout the world. And the Swiss watch is more than admired as the most amazing of time pieces, it is worshiped along with all the great idols of history. The measuring and calculating of this thing called time is an alchemy of sorts, taking some steel and brass and turning it into gold. The gold of time, so the saying, “time is money”. And this mastery long with that of the ziggurat and others, has been passed down through the secret societies generation after generation directly from Nimrod himself it is said. And told to him by certain “sons of god” as chronicled in The Book of Enoch. After months of research and seeing the intricacies and magnitude of the machine known as Cern it was hard for Grimes and Lacie to imagine that anyone could believe it to be anything other than the greatest time piece ever to come out of Babylon. A tower to God or at least one to take you back to the beginning, a place in space and time that perhaps God could be found and examined in.
“But where does all this lead us in terms of the Rabbit?”, Lacie questioned Grimes.
“Now there you go again. We have made great progress in our research and our understanding of this hole and you want to clog it all up with the White Rabbit. Of course I have no idea about where the Rabbit fits into all this the same as you. But fit he does, and we will figure that out shortly too I am sure.”
Lacie smiled at Grimes. And Grimes blushed just a bit as he turned his gaze back to one of the dozen or so books now in front of him. Lacie decided to head outside to wait for him to finish.
In Geneva time is very accurate and the buzzing began
right

time.
And as it did, every toilet in the city had it’s water begin spinning. Like everyone in the city decided to flush at the very same moment. The buzzing increased and the water spun faster. And faster. Lacie felt a bit sea sick as she waited for Grimes to exit the library. She was finding it hard to get any oxygen to her lungs.
“Oh, I wish Grimes would hurry” she thought.
Breathe, breathe in the air
Don’t be afraid to care
Leave but don’t leave me
Look around, choose your own ground
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you’ll give and tears you’ll cry
And all your touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
Run, rabbit run
Dig that hole, forget the sun
And when at last the work is done
Don’t sit down, it’s time to dig another one
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave

Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day’s useless energy spent.
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.
Cold hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white.
But we decide which is right.

Grimes opened the door to the street and as he did Lacie jumped.
“What was that for?” he asked. “I am not that scary am I?”
“No silly, it was just that a mouse scurried past as the door opened.” she said, catching her breath again.
The small mouse seemed to have been sitting right by Lacie’s feet the whole time unnoticed. And when Grimes opened the door it bolted and made it into the old building just before the door closed behind him. Of course the other thing about it that Lacie did not tell Grimes was that at that moment she could have sworn she heard the mouse say, “Talking Rabbits are not real.”

This was the fifth robot that had been sent in to look for the fuel and died within a minute. The good news was it proved that there was still nuclear material in there somewhere. The bad news was they still could not tell how much or in what shape or exactly where it was. Six years into the disaster and Franks former agents have not been able to determine if some of the nuclear materials had been removed prior to the blast. A blast carefully crafted, that resembled an earthquake and sent a tsunami barreling into Japans coast and the Fukushima Diachi NPP. If the agency was correct enough radioactive fuel had been funneled out to nuke half the planet or more. With the oceans already about dead near the plant and mostly to the West coast of America even submarines were having trouble using the area. Wignered, they have been reporting all kinds of engineering as well as structural failures. Time was ticking away and it had to be now assumed that there were bombs, dirty and explosive just waiting to be unleashed on the American people by fake terror groups of the FBI and CIA type. No spinning wheel or magnetic Rabbit roller coaster could stop them now.

her rusted shadow stains pine boards
cracked the window reflects sliced flesh
scaling stairs now upwards a moldy attic
slimy webs lay hanging wet as sheets do
masking stories a splitting leather binding
grime inlaid among its deep tanned veins

blood of autumn dried bluish among tulips
as her long thin shiny mane departs a face
paler than white of the nightshade in broth
bare branches scratch to the peeling walls
outside moonbeams of ocher light a gargoyle
peering out it’s pinnacle a fiery won height
distracting wayward boys wet visions scene

covering a dripping goo scales rise from skin
her sharp tongue skilfully dissects breaths
hot and moist morphing now chill and brittle
colliding stars explosion dirty ice balls in orbit
above a toxic halo birthed Diablo’s daughter
thunder strikes midnight the old mansion quakes
trembling shingles fall stuck a thousand stones

graves marked futile stormy prison escape
wrought fences bow surrendering territory

being pilgrims in search of the ancient fruit
submitting a purchase if just a glimpse shy
a banquet crimson in silk suits it is plated

Grimes found himself again just sitting and pondering his next move. The move that would allow him to catch that White Rabbit once and for all. To dispatch of him if you like that term better. Certainly he would outsmart that Rabbit this next time coming.
Then without knowing quite where it came from, he thought he heard someone say, “There’s a little bit of Rabbit in all of us, isn’t there?”

Twenty-five stories below the welcome hut at the base of Mt. Washington the elevator came to a stop. The very rustic trail hut gave away no clue as to the secrets below. The elevator did go deeper but only for those who had the correct key card and clearance. As the door opened the clean and shiny floor could be seen. It was spotless and shone with it’s waxed glow reflecting the overhead lights. The walls were just as pristine. Floor to ceiling the gloss white subway tile looked as if it had been installed yesterday. The hall went straight ahead rather than right to left, as most people are used to. A design that was very purposeful just like the fact that the elevator had no buttons in it, but just a slot for your key card. Nothing about this place had been left to chance. And everything has a double purpose in the area of mind control. Intimidation that is, MK style. At first glance you think that you can see the end of the hallway ahead, but that too is an illusion. Just a few steps down that hall and you find that the end is really far, no where in site at that. The further you walk the further away the end reveals itself to be. There are doors opposite each other as you go, but spaced about a football fields length between each set.

The headaches came and went during Lacie’s early years. The tragedy that took her parents faded in her thoughts for the most part, but not the headaches. With Frank she learned to move on and his tales of exciting spy adventures always had kept her on edge and fueled a great imagination.

“Is that what all this is now, just my imagination?”
Lacie said.

another one left today
a friend only known on an album cover
and by some scratchy music behind his words
and I, here with my hoary beard, grizzled
unkempt, skin dangling off once strong arms
arms that carried my love across a threshold
that lifted toward ancient stars two of my children at a time
and onto a lap that could still be seen three or four
here i remember four decades past
those who left then
was theirs the greater loss or gain
and for who, the ones who were close and cried
time is such a trickster
as children we laughed at her
oh how slow we said she was
she shall never catch up to us
we are so slim and fast and wise
even our lack of coordination, our misfit suits
could not keep us back to be overtaken
ah, but she is tricky, and patient
days and years and wear have done their job
in our heads still we see
the bright morning star rising
the long nights of stars streaking across the purple sky
where shadows never move and young excitement grows
we still see the fresh skin of those fairy tales
each new page read of enlightenment
prose, and poetry, and lyric
new languages and psychedelics
but patient time she moves and always works
til now as another passes away
my breath fails to keep pace with her
she is brutal in her speed
dizzying this old man and confusing the thoughts
all the well, lest my eyes clear and I see
the haggard look of the ones of mine
now bent and staggering, oh still the same
as always just waiting
waiting to see the next epitaph
the orbital obituary that time, ahead now wrote
fly free til then as I am slipping off the pace
and must rest soon, as those others
we will see posted, all the good ones
lost in such a year as this
and people will say that he was taken too soon

It had been 2 years now since the White Rabbit was last seen at the rabbit hole. Slowly the crowds had moved on to new things. The carnival atmosphere along with the tourists had dwindled until eventually no one came to see the rabbit hole at all. No one that is except Grimes. And Lacie occasionally went with him, though she would rather have put the whole thing completely out of her mind. In the States Mt. St. Helens had just erupted again and this time it was even more devastating than the 1980 eruption. News of the swarms of earthquakes had brought thousands to the area, just like the news of the White Rabbit had done, to catch a glimpse of the eruption. Doom tourists they were called, and they earned their name there. Over twenty thousand people lost their lives there from the blast and pyroclastic flow. Another estimated one hundred thousand died from the earthquake that hit the Cascadia subduction zone simultaneously and the ensuing tsunami.

Frank’s death had been a big crush to Lacie. And getting past it had been very hard for her. There were also so many things that she wished she could ask him now that all of these crazy things had taken place. Lacie sat at the table where she and Frank used to have breakfast together and she felt it. Not a rumbling, not some sort of a buzzing with the ground shaking. No, that was definitely a kick. And she could see her belly move out and then back like a slingshot.

It was a strange message that Lacie had found on that yellow notepad from Frank’s trunk. None of what had taken place recently has made any sense.

The death of millions is a small price to pay that the few may live longer, and longer. In fact their goal is to live forever. To build that tower, to get that knowledge, that will make it possible. But all has to be apart from God’s plan for eternal life. To make for themselves new bodies, that will never die, to move their being into a new building. But when they make you new, you will be their slaves. They want to be God. Knowing all that who do you think is behind all this?

And Grimes, well he is watching National Treasure, and The Matrix over and over.

“Yeah, yeah , yeah” the White Rabbit said as he headed up the hole.

Jack sort of grunted between sips of his soup .

“Fingerprint File” by the Rolling Stones
Fingerprint file, you get me down
You keep me running
Know my way around. Yes, you do, child
Fingerprint file, you bring me down
Keep me running
You keep me on the ground
Know my moves
Way ahead of time
Listening to me
On your satellite
Feeling followed
Feeling tagged
Crossing water
Trying to wipe my tracks
And there’s some little jerk in the FBI
A keepin’ papers on me six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down, it gets me down
You better watch out
On your telephone
Wrong number
They know you ain’t home
And there’s some little jerk in the FBI
A keepin’ papers on me six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down, it gets me down
Who’s the man on the corner; that corner over there
I don’t know. Well, you better lay low. Watch out
Keep on the look out
Electric eyes
Rats on the sell out
Who gonna testify
You know my habits
Way a head of time
Listening to me
On your satellite
And there’s some little jerk in the FBI
A keepin’ papers on me six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down, it gets me down
It gets me down
Hello, baby, mm-hmm
Ah, yeah, you know we ain’t, we ain’t talkin’ alone
Who’s listening? But I don’t really know
But you better tell the SIS to keep out of sight
‘Cause I know they takin’ pictures on the ultraviolet light
Yes, uh huh, yeah, but these days it’s all secrecy; no privacy
Shoot first, that’ s right… you know
Bye bye. Who’s listening?
Right now somebody is listening to you
Keeping their eyes peeled on you
Mmm, mmm, what a price, what a price to pay
All right. Good night, sleep tight

A Country Sampler

nonukes1

For such a born and bred Bronx kid to wind up out in the sticks in South Carolina is one thing.  But to write poetry about the country life?  I guess you just never know! Below find some of my works that I am considering for an upcoming chap book. Also please, if you have been enjoying my work please consider helping with any amount at my GoFundMe. This really is all I have until we can figure out exactly what can be done to fix my back. As you can see it has just been a meager amount over the whole life of the campaign but all our savings and anything that could be sold have been exhausted with several months left until my disability hearing is scheduled. Enough said. Enjoy the writes.

Carnival Craze

ahead dots color hill tops afar dark
yellow, red, blue. and white bulbs
a slow drive rounding easy curves
chants of glee sounding the escape
voices expecting exciting an evening

sour the sweetness knocking gently
as windows rolled down feel a sniff
ahead now neon lights circle the sky
parked the station wagon in a field
smiles falling out the old rear door
pink fluffy sugar whipped on a stick

corn scented popping grandly new
sticky sounds of sneakers skipping
mirrors and teacups join a sway too
the hot dough shaped ears powdered
join parade in turn at ticket booths cut

prizes of royalty reach up drooling eye
wheels spinning higher recall butterflies
bops and pops abound in wild carousel
loose change dribbles clanging on down
gum, hats, glasses and feathers scatter
back to the old Buick we return, smiles

Carrot Seeds

growing up in the city
carrots came in a can
you peel back the tin
and out they came clean

concrete gardens sprout
hard the seedlings rise
a transplant now am I
turning soil mixing poop

tiny the seed of a carrot
rolling off my dirty hands
after sun and water shines
a little green pop appears

when the green grew tall
I had to check have a peek
so poke around did my hand
just a skinny root now ruined

another day another check
months end the crop is gone
let the seeds grow undisturbed
the fruit will show when ready

A Picture In Grayed Boards

Mothers words grip within emotions
in the way dads old pickup drives
the treasured rides dirt swirling
behind us faster than the rabbits
fleeing through the peanut fields
startled does bound the fences
wire sagging and barbed gives way
her apron blowing softly seen
from the porch she waves smiling
it’s peach pie this evening sister
hanging out the washed sheets
giggling cute as the chipmunk
watching her from under the barn
grayed boards perfect the scene

perpetual the change that remains sweet

muffled giggles in blooming flowers
spark light the butterflies cool rise
yellows, oranges, and blacks scattered
in a blinking musical whirlwind ballet
lilies and crocuses spinning a melody
delicate antenna mimic a child’s wave
May shadows at noon disguise liquid
puddles skated smooth froze as ice
floral scents carried along spring winds
perpetual the change that remains sweet

Turnips Beside The Road

bunches of turnips spread out
an old country table of boards
dents and gaps showing age
soil dry now crumbles off as
each pile is shook before packing
the old vegetable boxes stacked
hurriedly in the bed of that old
white pickup that sat years in the
field back of the old slave cabins
it’s another hot day out there for
selling turnips beside the road

The Oldies Station

old the filling station half stands, a rusting show place lost
once bustling in brightness, weeds poke up asphalts cracks
peering around, periscopes riding in the crumbling black wakes
entertainment in a desolate place, silent country Bowery reruns
pumps hand driven, virgins they were to plastic cash sliders
in reflections shadowed, chrome glared of manner’s suited
oil checks, pop in glass bottles, coin driven phone call booths
change rides in, wearing glamour mostly, leaves some dusted
streetlights bent in prayer, touching the abandoned lot distressed
their wiring hangs limp, cut to fraying the darkness answers not

Southern Shine

Blue skies reflecting off southern eyes
Sight that is sweet as fresh pecan pie
Georgia peaches and Muscadine wine
Honey suckle and the sweet bye and bye
Carolina moonlight drinking down the shine

Papered With The Funnies

listening as the drops sound off one by one
coming storm raining down on the old tin roof
the falling porch leans toward the hill above
nothing fades as nicely as paint on metal does
wildflowers peak from between boards and stone
foundation sliding daily towards the eastern edge
sights and sounds returning inside this house
fools call it a shack but to me it’s ever true home
papered twice in the finest newspapers of the era
an architectural designer tribute to snuffy smith
running water is found in the creek pure and cool
the most of it found clear in mason jars shelved
among the years tomatoes and pickled okra
nostalgia grows in this holler when the rain falls

The World From His Window /or/ the Wheels In the Wheels Go Round and Round

He sits day by day
gazing beyond the silicon created illusion
searching for something that’s left his mind
a verse, a melody, a memory
like a broken shell beyond repair
in his world of fantasy  laced reality
the old man counts the days
by the hairs caught in his comb
while multi-colored children play games
on little black boxes in the dark
a world, distinct in-distinctions groans
false perceptions push and pull
everything within the senses once vivid
now cheating for a place among
what is seen, heard, felt, and received, rather than perceived
evening and morning greet each other loudly sometimes, quietly others
rather than that burned out marionette
on frayed strings, jerking wildly,
whose dance is without grace
always out of place
being a being, lost in space
if you hear him crying in the night
reliving the battles
the ceremonious washing’s
do not look to close
do not stare to long
his handlers have left scars of great depth
the old man is splintered and cracked
with a stench of wood burned in the fire
and soaked in water, you know
the odor I speak of, a perfume not
sold in the likes of ancient department stores
not to be found for any price these days
but this (that) old man
he stays right there, oblivious to his own care
though quite mindful of a stare
despite the new world disorder
thrust full force upon that one or sum
full of brows, silvery and thin
your thoughts of him
might be dim
he is just there in that chair
filthy, stinky, useless, unknown creature
whose presence only serves,
among men and women,
in this age and ages past
befitting a scare
but every now and again,
unseen until that shell has been split open
and broken
a single ray of light will give a glimmer,
a shimmer
and beyond the shell, beyond the smell
those who, still can be still, find a pearl
In the Makers hands
what to us is beyond repair
is made new, clean, and a treasure rare.

The Beating Rhythm Psychotic

swirling clockwise the sands surround my head
violently throwing up a black widow brain twister
sucking at the orphaned airborne chattering near by
a taste of green drops, and catches on tongues edge
spit up ascending the ladder of the dark mass growing

yellow woven turnstiles shade broken mirrors blushing
few castaways survive the blue sharp edged slivers
a cutting positioned high slicing multiple hard wares
shaved metal showers fire the gears to slow grinding
hot the forging casts an orange tint inside quick lightning

skull bobbing and nodding a whitish poultice oozes out
backwards talking carnies run this shaky festival booth
the show, a perpetually moving storm of three card Monte
red the queen traveling veins of this tornadic spun tempest
to fall in monster hail stones pounding out the beating rhythm

Afternoon Poetry for Memorial Day 2017

Have not been feeling well for a few weeks, here are a few to catch you up…. peace!

on the mantel I found your note

on the mantel I found your note
sitting, I read it by the fires light
drowning in the words you speak
arms flailing at ears flash pierced
woven inside I tasted the strings
stuck to the web of a silky trap
sniffing at branches in the dark
sprung loose cracking my teeth
die rolled lost in the floor boards
smoke or a vapor up the chimney
waking in the dark coffee chimes
drifting shale scents over fences
whiteness grows in sight reflected
blown ashes the glowing doth fade

There Is Only One Shade Of Black

cling hard the colors fading
under skin loosely hanging
hundreds of green sparks
showering the open garden
palettes of shades watering
the sky an ocean of blues
powdered hues cast subtly
of reds and yellows shining

distinctly separated bows
the horizon ever changing
glazing now these doughnuts
set in facial sockets aged
scents and sounds do reign
each note has it’s own ringing
yet as night settles here darkly
eclipsing the shadows dull light

in blindness I discover harshly
there is only one shade of black

perpetual the change that remains sweet

muffled giggles in blooming flowers
spark light the butterflies cool rise
yellows, oranges, and blacks scattered
in a blinking musical whirlwind ballet
lilies and crocuses spinning a melody
delicate antenna mimic a child’s wave
May shadows at noon disguise liquid
puddles skated smooth froze as ice
floral scents carried along spring winds
perpetual the change that remains sweet

[ in that barren, dark place ]

in that barren, dark place
only those who know, know
solitude commences loudly
enemies all who pass here
self the worst provocateur
humans scampering all earth
in a kaleidoscope of shadows
swords reach just shy a slice
but the echos of words ring on
swollen, a tribute to Vincent’s ear
they rattle the brain unconscious
oh how can loneliness be so busy

chasing rabbits breaking bones
a lie, a trap set, the fowler’s snare
sanity too high a price to chase now
looking through those looking through me
forgoten groceries laid at the doorstep
or the gas never pumped, the stares
the wind strikes without royal regard
while graveyards seem a quiet place
out beyond the bustling brainwaves
no you can’t feel it just a vapor passing
here though rides a desperate cowboy
breathing this dusty trail until it’s end

Oroville Dam UPDATE !!!

Is Failure of the Oroville Dam Possible?

Is Failure of the Oroville Dam Possible?

February 11th, 2017 by Roy W. Spencer, Ph. D.

“The last couple of days have not made me very confident in the predictions of engineers associated with the Oroville Dam.

While I am a climate researcher, and not hydrologist, it took me less than an hour midday yesterday (see comments here) to estimate that the emergency spillway would be breached around 9 a.m. PST this morning. I was off by an hour…it was breached at 8 a.m.

But engineers were leaning toward the lake level never getting that high (901 ft.)

This kind of calculation isn’t rocket science. As long as inflow into the lake exceeds outflow (both of which are monitored hourly), the lake level will rise.

Why were engineers reluctant to predict the (admittedly historic) event?”

http://www.kcra.com/article/oroville-spillway-outflows-increase-as-damage-continues/8701837

The latest releases have caused even more damage widening the hole and cutting away at the side of the hill. The lake is at about 95% so they have to keep releasing I would suspect. This is an earthen dam and if this thing goes it will be a major catastrophe. If you live in California stay alert you do not want to have all that water and earth coming at you.

here is a short video:

A video posted on YouTube shows big trouble at the dam, as the spillway has developed an almost 200 ft. hole. For the earthen filled dam this may turn out to serious, though officials are saying there is no danger at this point. .

According to Wikipedia this is the most important water source for the California Department of Water Resources’ State Water Project.

“The Oroville-Thermalito Complex is a group of reservoirs, structures, and facilities located in and around the city of Oroville in Butte County, California. The complex serves not only as a regional water conveyance and storage system, but is the headwaters for, and therefore perhaps is the most vital part of, the California Department of Water Resources’ State Water Project, the world’s largest publicly built and operated water and power development and conveyance system.”

Courtesy: Richard Winterrowd

Richard Winterrowd

CBS13 reports,

“Operators increased their water releases at the dam on Tuesday as a significant storm rolled through Northern California. However, as peak water releases started happening around noon, people started noticing some concerning signs”

In terms of a catastrophic failure besides the residents below who could lose everything and the immediate lose of life, there also could be major impacts throughout California in terms of water and power.

This is something to definitely keep an eye on.

[ stop the crazy ]

stop the crazy
that’s all I want
when I think that
I am thinking
but I’m wrong
that’s all I want
but it’s too real
to convince myself
so I just think
and think
and it is hard
to go on like this
again
and again
but I must

[ Syrian homes piled among bodies ]

Syrian homes piled among bodies
destroyed from above and afar
a landscape painted in hues of tan
and blood on a canvas torn and soiled
left in heaps by the tourist’s bombs
poking their forces in other nations

here sovereignty’s meaning they
translate differently than at homes
they dwell in standing upright devoid
of the damage, guts, black, and red dealt
out swift in national interests unyielding
terrorism of the highest order, ordered

Snow Plowing the Classes

the plows move slowly
down this street
manicuring each spot
with a spit polish
stopping at houses
to greet the elites
eating hors d’oeuvres
and sipping
fine wines

just one town over
from the windows
of homes watching
parked cars
plowed in and covered
in the blink
of a middle class eye
two more hours
of shoveling appears
